Fill Weight

For down garments with a lining, first remove the down package, weigh the total mass of the down package, and then remove the down filling from the package. For down garments without a lining, weigh the total mass of the garment, remove the down filling from inside the garment, weigh the remaining part, and the difference between the two masses is the fill weight.

Down-proof Property

A standard-sized sample bag filled with down is placed in the rotating chamber of a testing instrument containing hard rubber balls. Through constant-speed rotation of the chamber, the rubber balls are lifted to a certain height and impact the specimen inside the chamber, simulating various pressures, rubbing, and collisions the down garment experiences during wear. The down-proof property is evaluated by counting the number of feathers, down, and down fragments that penetrate through the garment.
