Colorfastness to Washing
A textile specimen is stitched together with one or two specified standard adjacent fabrics, placed in a soap solution or a mixture of soap and anhydrous sodium carbonate, and mechanically agitated for a specified time and temperature. After rinsing and drying, the original specimen is used as a reference. The color change of the specimen and staining of the adjacent fabrics are assessed using a gray scale or instrumental evaluation.
Fiber Content
Based on the specific physical, chemical and other properties of various fibers, different analytical methods are applied to test the sample, and unknown fiber types are identified by comparing with standard photographs, standard spectra, and standard reference materials.
